After years of doing classical landscape paintings, Rhyn decided to superimpose, upon apparent reality, a reality which met the demands of his own sensibility. Passionate about the creatures of the natural world, he painted trees birds, flowers and people, but had a special sensitivity to living creatures of the sea. Someone said of Rhyn, in fish, he sees the metamorphosis of lost souls.
