Borduas was a Québécois artist known for his abstract painting. A leader in the idea of painting whatever came to ones mind, he led the so called automatist school in the early 1950s. His works were prolific and, characterized by their spontaneity. As an artist, he is highly regarded among art collectors in Quebec and Canada.
