The artist has captured, almost in a photographic like form, the life of that spot, that day, on the West Island of Montreal. The tracks on the lower part of the canvas indicate that the snowfall is fresh. Trees, bare as they are in winter, lend themselves better to drawing because of the darkness of the bark contrasting with the whiteness of the snow.
