Until the mid 1980s, Rhyn worked in a semi-abstract style. Despite the fact that he was a master in the technical skills of painting, he chose to follow his intuitive desire to simplify and to create a block like effect in the way he painted landscapes. In this work, the stylized trees and purple rocks create a dream like state.
