Rhyn had visited and actually lived in Venice, few months at a time. He knew the place very well, if we can judge on how he thought of these majestic buildings. The strokes of paint are quite expressive of his feelings. The buildings still stand proudly and conspicuous. They speak to us, reminiscent of the unforgotten glorious days of old.
