Artists, more and more because of technical reasons, are often obliged to paint from photographs. Rhyn was very opposed to such practices, as photography takes away the life and soul of the object being painted. Here, using the alla prima technique, he meticulously painted every millimeter of the blossoms which, unlike photographs, display a freshness and distinction of their own.
