Rhyn admired nature and especially trees. He loved to paint trees in full bloom. Usually they are depicted in large meadows. In this particular work, they seem to take on a new meaning as they are solidly standing on a ground made of granite. The rocks we soon discover have an anthropomorphic look. The rocks appear to be smiling and, as our eyes turn to the blooming trees, they too look to be just as happy and content.
