The more one observes this work, the more pleasing it becomes. The painting is quite original. It is a dark scene from mid-winter with black roofs that are snow capped. The scene is far from dark, however, having an interplay between the warm soft snow in the front, contrasting with the distant cold clouds, joined together by the ochre yellow tree branches, makes it intriguing, warm and inviting. Rhyn clearly has created a unique piece of contemporary Impressionism.
