Like numerous painters before him, Rhyn loved the grand canal of Venice and, especially, the imposing Byzantine architecture of it’s buildings. In this work, he demonstrates his architectural skills and wonderful design. The meaning and glamour of the place was a challenge. It was solved with the use of unity of colour and, the artists sensitive understanding of design and form. The work, completed, generates the perfect atmosphere of serenity and warmth that is Venice.
