The house, with the red roof, looks minuscule in front of these towering Austrian pines. It must be windy, as the large branches on the right appear to be oscillating with the wind. Rhyn treated his trees with dignity and respect. He painted them individually and considered them as vibrant living creatures. Each tree in this work shows its own particular character, giving the painting life and allowing our eyes, a plethora of things to discover.
